Ready to rock the Wellmont Theater is Slayer with specials guests Suicidal Tendencies and Exodus on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Slayer is described as an “American thrash metal band,” and it was formed in California in 1981. The original guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King are also seen as the “pioneer of the thrash metal subgenre.”

Slayer is most known for their 1986 release of Reign in Blood; Slayer is also held in such esteem as Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax. Although the band is also known for never publicly revealing its worldwide sales, over the course of their career up to 2004 the band sold more than 3.5 million albums in the United Sates alone.

Suicidal Tendencies is a crossover thrash band that began in 1981, also out of California; the band was formed by Mike Muir, its leader and only permanent member. Suicidal Tendencies is also credited as one of “the fathers of crossover thrash.” Exodus is another trash band out of California, pairing perfectly with the other bands lined up for the show.
