This Swedish heavy metal band is coming to Montclair for a night of eccentric music and stage presence. Ghost came together in 2006, made up of five members. These artists go by unique identities and their actual names have never been publicly released and continue to remain anonymous. They sign their names with individual alchemical symbols for their fans and refer to themselves as “Nameless Ghouls.”

Each one represents one of the five elements: fire, water, earth, air and ether. The image that this band portrays is aimed toward worshipping Satan by mimicking the Roman Catholic Church, whose dedicated members worship the Holy Trinity. Each member dresses their part during their performances with the use of makeup, prosthetics, and costumes. They all wear their respective symbol on their instruments, as well as embroidered on the chest of their costume. The band’s lead vocalist dresses the part as “Papa Emeritus,” a satanic priest.

“I’m so fortunate to live so close to the Wellmont,” said Nadine Bischoff, Montclair State University sophomore. “I love the quality of the shows that come to this theater in Montclair and I’m a little extra excited for this one. I love the idea of ghouls and makeup and prosthetics, so I’m sure it’s going to be an awesome concert!”

Their music is most commonly referred to as heavy metal or hard rock, but it’s been labeled with plenty of genres over time, incorporating progressive and psychedelic vibes to their sound. One of the band members even refers to the genre as a mix between pop music and death metal.

Ghost has been both nominated for and won a number of awards over the course of the past 10 years. These awards include the Breakthrough Band Award in 2012, the Best Hard Rock/Metal Album in 2014 and 2015 and the Best Metal Performance Grammy Award in 2016, just to name a few. This stacked concert is sure to be one you won’t want to miss. In New Jersey for just one night only, you’ll want to experience the Wellmont come to life with exotic stage aura, painted faces and a satanic twist on music.

The concert will be held at the Wellmont Theater, located at 5 Seymour St. in Montclair, on April 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at thewellmonttheater.com. Price ranges are as follows: upper general admission for $32.50, loge seating for $54.50 and Tier 1 Seating for $75. All tickets are subject to all applicable facility fees and service charges.
