The Montclair Public Library and Bike & Walk Montclair have teamed up for the library’s summer reading program. Join the community and challenge yourself to read a book every week between June 24 through Sept. 9. After finishing a book, participants can submit a review to earn chances to grand prizes, including a new FitBit and one of many giftcards to Watchung Booksellers.

The MPL was founded in 1893 and serves the community of Montclair, as well as its surrounding towns through two facilities: the Main Library and the Bellevue Avenue Branch. It relies on municipal and private funding to offer a host of free educational programs, family events and services seven days a week.

The Bike & Walk Montclair was founded in 2002 and is non-profit, non-partisan organization. They are supported through donors and members, making Montclair a better place. It represents the individuals who decide to walk and ride bicycles every day as a transportation alternative or recreational use. When more individuals walk and bike, safety increases.

“We’ve hosted summer reading programs since 2012. Exercise Your Mind: Read, is the theme this year, [and it] focuses on healthy living,” said Chelsea Dodd, Information Services Supervisor at Montclair Public Library.

Ways to submit bookish love (minimum of 140 characters) include:

  • post a book review on the Summer Reading website
  • post a book review on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #MPLsummerreading
  • tag a photo of yourself reading, the book cover or anything that reminds you of the book you completed, with the hashtag #MPLsummerreading on Instagram
  • drop off your review at the Main Library reference desk
