Studio Players have quality performances for all ages.
As a non-profit organization, Studio Players is dedicated entirely to provide exceptional entertainment to a diverse audience. Located at 14 Alvin Place in Upper Montclair, Studio Players was originally founded in 1937. Ever since then they have been dedicated to not only providing the public with quality theatrical performances, but also providing actors and actresses with a place to collaborate with others and display their love for acting.
Their performances can appeal to audiences from any age range. Studio Players dedicates half of each of their acting seasons to younger audiences, performing their very popular “Magic Trunk” series. Additionally, there are a number of different performances perfect for older audiences. Studio Players is the perfect choice for the family looking to plan a night out, guaranteeing quality entertainment at an exceptionally reasonable price!
“When my parents took me to see Cinderella with my younger cousin, I thought I’d be bored the other time because it was definitely meant for younger children,” said Montclair resident Sasha Condas. “But, I thought they did a great rendition of a story I used to love when I was a little girl.”
Studio Players is in the midst of performance season, currently putting on a rendition of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, a comedy originally written Christopher Durang. The play will continue running until June 18, with showings at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tickets only cost $20, with a $3 discount available to both students and senior citizens. There are also group discounts available. Tickets can be purchased either over the phone or at the door.
This summer, the company has partnered up with Teen Drama and is offering classes on the study of Broadway. Teen Drama is a program designed to help students channel their theatrical and artistic abilities, allowing them to grow as actors/actresses and artists. The program is open to aspiring performers between the ages of 14-19. More information about this new program can be found on the Studio Players official website.
Studio Players has been providing quality entertainment for over 50 years. If you have a love for the performing arts, you can participate in a number of different ways including acting, costume design, lights, stage design or even by working at the Box Office. Studio Players is always looking to expand their family, composed entirely of volunteers.
