Bonjour Montclair is known for its overwhelming list of menu options, all of which are exceptionally delicious. Now in addition to providing food lovers with delicious crepes and sandwiches, Michael Tomi has opened up Mike’s Falafel—a middle eastern restaurant located at 669 Bloomfield Ave. in West Caldwell.

Mike’s Falafel isn’t limited to only serving falafel, but has dozens of options to satisfy anyone’s taste buds. The menu includes a bunch of different types of pita sandwiches, such as the popular lamb gyro or chicken shawarma sandwiches. These sandwiches all come with lettuce, tomato, onion, a choice of taziki or tahini and delectable pickled turnips. There are lots of vegetarian and vegan options as well, such as the grilled vegetable gyro sandwich, the tangy and delicious tabooli, or one of the many salads available such as the fatoosh salad, Israeli chopped salad, Greek salad, goat cheese salad, the California salad or the citrus salad. The majority of the items on the menu are not only delicious and filling, but they are also very healthy.

Additionally, there are also lots of different types of platters. You can choose from a list of different meats, like chicken or lamb kebab, or grilled vegetables, and that can be accompanied by either rice or fries and a salad. They offer a wonderful lunch special until 3 p.m., where you can get a meat/vegetables, small salad and rice for $8 plus tax. The portions are always extremely generous, and leave you feeling very full and satisfied with your purchase. All of the menu options are not only palatable but are also very reasonably priced for being of such great quality.

“I decided to open up Mike’s Falafel because I wanted to be able to share some of the foods I love from home with everyone. I’ve been serving crepes for a long time, but this food is closer to my heart,” said Tomi.

The menu does not end there, and other available options are chicken fingers or wings and french fries, which are great for children, and fresh smoothies and juices. In the front on display you can find homemade boureka’s, perfect for anyone looking for a small snack, and contain ingredients such as spinach and feta, cheese or potatoes and mushroom. Lastly, if your sweet tooth needs satisfying there are always sweets available at the front, such as baklava, harissa or knaife—a dessert made with cheese and shredded phyllo dough, recognizable by its eye-catching orange coloring.

Mike’s Falafel is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is spacious seating if you want to bring the whole family out, and they are more than happy to deliver if you aren’t located too far away. The staff at Mike’s Falafel strives to provide a warm and welcoming environment, where anyone can come by and sample some of the best middle eastern food in the area.
