Jonas Brothers rock out for their Montclair fans.
To promote their highly anticipated album, the New Jersey natives are going on tour starting Oct. 11. The Jonas Brothers are bringing their blend of pop and rock to the Wellmont Theater on Oct. 12.
The Jonas Brothers’ career started back in 2005 when Nicholas Jonas had a Christian album. Jonas’ brothers and father helped him write a few songs for the album. Quickly after, Columbia Records signed all three of them as a group. Their debut album titled It’s About Time, was released Aug. 8, 2006. It did not do as well as Columbia Records had hoped and the group was later dropped from the label.
Soon after, The Jonas Brothers was picked up by Disney’s Hollywood Records. With this record label, the band released three chart-topping albums. Their self-titled album skyrocketed the band to household name status. With huge hits like “Year 3000,” “Hold On” and “S.O.S.” the CD debuted at number five on the Billboard Hot 200 chart within its first week of being released in August 2007.
The third Jonas Brothers album, A Little Bit Longer, released in August 2008 was by far the most successful of them all. It not only had songs like “Burnin’ Up” and “Lovebug,” but it also did so well that it got them nominated for a Grammy.
Lines, Vines, and Trying Times was the last album the band released under Hollywood Records. After its release on June 16, 2009, the Jonas Brothers decided to take a break from the band.
With four albums in four years, most would think that was a lot of work. It certainly was, but the band of brothers did not stop there. During this four year period they went on several concert tours (their Burnin’ Up tour was recorded and turned into a high-grossing 3-D movie), filmed the hit TV Movie Camp Rock, as well as its sequel, filmed a Disney Channel television show for two seasons and helped produce fellow Disney star Demi Lovato’s debut album.
While the band was taking a break from recording, both Joe and Nick Jonas released solo albums. Nick released his album with his band, Nick Jonas and the Administration. The album, titled Who I Am, was a very different soulful album.
Nick Jonas also starred in the hit Broadway musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Joe’s album Fastlife had a very dance-pop club feel. During their break, Kevin got married and starred in the reality TV series “Married to Jonas.” Kevin and his wife Danielle are now expecting a baby girl.
Now the brothers are back with a brand-new album on the way. Their fifth studio album, V, is their first album since leaving Hollywood Records back in May of 2012. The album’s first single, “Pom Poms,” was released this past April and the current single, “First Time,” was released June 25 of this year. There is no set release date for the album, but Kevin, Nick and Joe have assured their fans that it is “soon” on many occasions.
Tickets for the show are priced between $29 and $116.50 and are available for purchase online. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. For more information on the band visit their official website.
Parking will be available on the local streets, as well as the parking lot located by the Wellmont. Concert-goers are advised to get to the theater early to get in line. There are plenty of places to dine before and after the show. Raymond’s on Church Street is always pleasant, and only two blocks from the theater. Or, maybe something a little more exotic: Mesob’s Ethiopian Restaurant is right on Bloomfield Avenue.
