Spring fashions are here.
With nice weather finally heading our way, everyone is ready to say goodbye to the cold and brutal winter. Start packing away those heavy coats, scarves and gloves and swap them for shorts sleeves and sandals. Although the warm weather may be just a tease for now, there is no harm in being prepared for the beautiful weather that is soon to come. With spring already coming next week, the anticipation for warm and breezy days grows inside us each day.
After a month of hundreds of fabulous runway shows with thousands of spring and summer looks, it is finally time to put those trends to use in our spring 2014 closets. Already hitting local stores and mimicking the looks from the runway, many shops are ready to give you these trendsetting looks just in time for spring.
The first trend that is definitely the most hyped about and we will be seeing a ton of this spring is pastels. The fun, soft and feminine shades of baby blue and minty green are being incorporated everywhere. Designers such as Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung and Rebecca Taylor all have amazing pastel looks on the runway and they are now being brought to you by all your local stores. One store in particular, Urban Outfitters, has a whole look book on their site featuring blush colored blazers and lavender skirts. Pastels are definitely something everyone should be incorporating into their wardrobe for this spring, and Urban Outfitters is accessible right off of Bloomfield Avenue!
A recurring trend over the years is the sweet and flirty fabric of florals, but this time it is being seen everywhere – and I mean everywhere. Top designers such as Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Kors have tons of flower printed designs on the runway. One website in particular that I am absolutely loving at the moment for their florals is Nasty Gal. Nasty Gal has a huge selection of trendy tops and flowy dresses perfect for springtime. I especially love the crop tops, which are perfect for music festival season, which is coming up soon. From their flower headbands to high-waisted shorts, it is the ultimate destination to help you find that perfect outfit for this time of year.
Also another great destination for florals is Anthropologie on Bloomfield Avenue. I have a huge infatuation for this fast-fashion store, especially for its ability to give you trends found straight off the runway and available to you as quickly as a blink of an eye. They are always on top of the fashion trends and help you stay up to date and trendy with what’s happening right now.
After many seasons of being told to mix up your patterns and experiment with mismatching tops and bottoms, this spring it is all about coordinating with matching sets. Some memorable matching sets from the runway were Diane von Furstenberg, J. Crew, Honor and Trina Turk. From matching crop tops with shorts and moto-jackets with skirts, the patterns and designs are endless. More and more stores are catching onto this trend and it is going to be very big this spring and summer.
One store in particular, which I find to be a great place to search for these sets, is the website River Island. I absolutely love all the pieces featured on their site. They have tons and tons of matching jackets with skirts and shorts with bold and bright colors and patterns. Matching sets are really going to be huge because whether you are heading to the beach and throw on a matching shorts and top, or are going out at night with a matching blazer and pencil skirt, the trend will always be seen.
Luckily enough, there are tons and tons of sites and stores that can help you achieve all these straight off the runway looks at an affordable price. With so many trends going on and stores helping you gain easy access to create looks based off the runway, you can be ready and prepared for spring when it comes. The anticipation for spring and summer is long awaited and soon enough it will be here and all these fabulous trends will be featured on all the streets everywhere.
