Christopher O’Riley joins the Shanghai Quartet at the Kasser Theater.
Coming soon the Kasser Theater on the campus of Montclair State University is Christopher O’Riley with the Shanghai Quartet, when he “returns with a live recording of NPR’s From the Top, which The Boston Globe called ‘an unpretentious mix of the ridiculous and the sublime…[Featuring] an entertaining, accessible and often inspirational mix of outstanding musical performances, informal interviews, skits and games, the show is a celebration of extraordinary musicians who happen to be teenagers leading fairly normal lives,'” according to Peak Performances.
The show will feature the talents of 16 year-old cellist Chase Park from New Jersey and 18 year-old violist Jasper Snow, originally from Texas and currently a freshman at Juilliard. According to the Peak Perfomances website, “Chase and Jasper, along with the Shanghai Quartet, will perform a movement from Johannes Brahms’ String Sextet in G major. The program also features 13 year-old flutist Audrey Emata from Pennsylvania; and brother-sister pianists Ryan Ferguson and Janice Carissa from Surabaya, Indonesia, currently living in Philadelphia.”
Christopher O’Riley with the Shanghai Quartet will take place on on Dec. 13 at 8 p.m.. Tickets are available online at peakperfs.org or at the Kasser Theater box office for $20. Undergraduate students at Montclair State also receive one free ticket to the show with a valid student I.D. The show is also 90 minutes long with no intermission.
Refreshments are available at the concession stand before the performance but no food or drink is permitted inside the theater at any time. For light foods and coffee, Cafe Diem is located in close proximity to the theater and connected to the library. For a full menu available 24/7, the Red Hawk Diner is located on the far end of campus.
Parking is available in the Red Hawk Deck as well as the Transit Parking Deck across campus. Public transportation that runs directly in front of the Kasser Theater is also available. If you are traveling in from the city, Peak Performances is now offering a Peak Bus. Peak Performances runs a charter bus service to and from Manhattan for all Saturday and Sunday performances, and tickets can be purchased along with your show tickets.
