MSU’s Celinda Ortega Crowned National All American Miss.
A New Jersey resident from Fair Lawn and current student at Montclair State University, Celinda Ortega, was crowned as National All American Miss 2014-15. Ortega was chosen over 70 candidates from across the country, representing her home state of New Jersey. As the new National All American Miss, Ortega will also travel to other pageants in New Jersey and participate in community service projects. Additionally she plans to speak to her platform: marine life conservation.
Ortega received the national crown, trophy, sash, cash prize and several formal gown gift certificates as part of her winning prize package. She will also attend a photo shoot in Texas and receive an all expense paid trip to the National Pageant to be held in California during Thanksgiving 2015 to crown her successor. While in California, Ortega will also be able to attend the Thanksgiving Banquet, Disneyland and a Hollywood tour for two.
Contestants in the competition were judged in four key areas: introduction, interview, formal wear and community service. Ortega is currently majoring in Public Relations at Montclair State University. According to a press release, “her passion for committing her spare time to community service remains a priority. Celinda continues to volunteer at Halfway Hounds, Miss Lucky Star Pageant, local schools, drives, walks [and more]. As an aspiring actress, Celinda can also be found bustling in the streets of New York City heading to auditions with major casing directors.”
Aside from celebrating America’s greatness and encouraging its future leaders, the National American Miss Pageants award thousands in scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist development of young women nationwide. All activities are “age-appropriate and family-oriented.” Pageants are held in each state for girls ages four to 18 in five different divisions. For more information, go to www.namiss.com.
