Bring the Salvation Army unused items.
Last Sunday was the official last day of spring and summer has started; what better way to get rid of all those extra clothes and household items that you have left over from winter then to donate them to the Salvation Army.
Located at 13 Trinity Place in Montclair and open every day of the week (except Saturdays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Salvation Army is more than willing to take all those extra clothes and items off your hands. Donating is easy and convenient, too; they accept any kind of clothing and items. Most times they have large bins that you can just leave your clothes and other belongings in and not have to waste any time with lines and people. I myself every spring bring my extra clothes to the Salvation Army, and I have a good feeling on my conscience for the rest of they day, and you will too. It’s especially great to know that your donations will go to a good cause, being redistributed throughout the world and going to the poor, homeless and even disaster relief victims.
An extra bonus to donating is that if you get a receipt from your donations to this organization you can get a tax write off. Supporting this group also allows the Salvation Army to employ thousands around the world giving many people jobs and provides major relief efforts in the worst parts of the world. Up to this day the Salvation Army has help thousands of people across the globe and provided hope to many.
A little history behind the Salvation Army is that it was started in the 18th century in London. Founded off of Christian belief, the organization came from humble beginnings. Their main goal, as stated from their website, www.salvationarmy.org, is “the advancement of the Christian religion… of education, the relief of poverty and other charitable objects beneficial to society or the community of mankind as a whole.” They also hold high standards and morals; for example, all employees abstain from alcohol and tobacco and the organization believes in the fair treatment and employment of women.
So whether it be spring cleaning or if you have extra stuff in your garage and attic this year, come and bring it down to the Salvation Army and put your unused stuff to good use. It will be a great use of your time and you will help many people in need around the world, right from the location in Montclair!
