Come out and enjoy Restaurant Week!
The New York City Restaurant Week is back again this summer from July 20 to August 14. This highly anticipated event is not only a fun time for friends and family, but also an opportunity to try out some fine dining in NYC cuisines at a much cheaper price.
NYC Restaurant Week is a semiannual event that promotes fine dining from an array of restaurants at an affordable price. It works like this: participating restaurants must sign up and as part of the deal, offer a three-course meal from specially selected menus specifically priced at $25 for lunch and $38 for dinners. In these menus, restaurants will offer a minimum of three choices for appetizers, three choices for entrées and at least one dessert. There are some restaurants that may even offer drink specials, supplemental items or other à la carte options at an additional price. You can see all the participating restaurants online at nycgo.com/restaurant-week.
There are some things you may want to keep in mind. Most places will not offer their restaurant week specials on Saturdays. Also, reservations are highly recommended because of how popular the event is. However, they are not required; the restaurant week special is available to all guests, including walk-ins.
You can get to New York City from Montclair through car, bus or train. If you’re going with your car, you’ll have to find a place to park, and can find a place easily by just google searching “nyc parking” and finding the best deal in advance. Many places offer deals and coupons online, but make sure on the day to get there a little early, as it may be crowded due to the highly anticipated event. If you’re traveling by bus or train, visit the New Jersey Transit website to find departure times and from which area. You can depart from the Montclair Train Station on Walnut Street. Traveling by train or bus and walking the rest of the way to your destination could be much more convenient than driving, as you obviously don’t have to worry about parking.
Lastly, make sure you dress for the event, which means dressy-casual to full on black tie, depending on the restaurant and time of day. The participating restaurants are all held to a certain caliber and are selected based on a set of criteria to make sure they are indeed fine dining. It is not 100 percent required, unless a restaurant is particularly critical, but highly recommended. Be sure to check the weather to plan for a hot summer day or a cooler breeze, and then have fun dressing up for this awesome event!
