Spending an acoustic evening with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo.
After a five show cancellation due to an emergency eye surgery just a few weeks ago, Pat Benatar and recovered Neil Giraldo are back on the road! On Oct. 15, they will be performing a very intimate acoustic show at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair. Recently celebrating their 35 years of performing together, this is certainly a show you will not want to miss!
The first female artist to play on MTV performing “You Better Run,” Pet Benatar is a singer- songwriter and four-time Grammy Award winner. During the 1980s, Benatar’s fame and success skyrocketed. Not only did she have 17 Billboard chartings with 15 of them being Top 40 singles, she had two RIAA-certified Multi-Platinum albums, five RIAA-certified Platinum albums and three RIAA-certified Gold albums.
Although known as a solo artist, Pat Benatar recorded and toured with extremely talented band members throughout the entirety of her career. Those members contributed greatly to the writing and producing of Benatar’s songs. The most known is her long-time husband, Neil Giraldo.
Neil “Spyder” Giraldo, is the lead guitarist of the band and has performed on all of Benatar’s albums. Before working with Benatar, Giraldo performed in Rick Derringer’s touring band. It wasn’t until his appearance in Benatar’s “You Better Run” music video where he distinguished himself has one of the first guitarists on MTV.
In addition to playing lead guitar, Giraldo is credited with writing and producing a great amount of Benatar’s work. Benatar’s music is considered so popular that it has been chosen for stage and screen soundtracks. For example, “Love Is a Battlefield” was featured twice on Comedy Central’s South Park and was featured in the comedy film 13 Going on 30 in 2003, “Run Between the Raindrops” was featured on the soundtrack for The Stepfather in 1987, her song “Heartbreaker” is a playable song in the 2008 video game, Guitar Hero: World Tour and in 2006, “We Belong” and “Love Is a Battlefield” were featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo’s tickets for the show range from $20 to $190 and are available online at livenation.com or at the Wellmont Theater box office. The Wellmont Theater is located off of Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair. Those attending are encouraged to arrive early because parking available across from the venue is limited. Those who do not receive venue lot parking must park on the streets. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. so make sure to get your tickets before it sells out!
