While the semester has ended, the Kasser Theater located on the campus of Montclair State University is alive as ever, and will be hosting the world premier of Analogy/Dora: Tramontane, starting June 18. This show will be performed by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. This show is also Conceived and Directed by Bill T. Jones, Choreographed by Bill T. Jones with Janet Wong and the Company, Original Score Composed by Nick Hallett, Decor by Bjorn Amelan, Lighting Design by Robert Wierzel, Costumes by Liz Prince, Associate Set Design by Solomon Weisbard and Sound Design by Sam Crawford.
Analogy/Dora: Tramontane will run on June 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m., June 20 at 8 p.m. and June 21 at 3 p.m. at the Kasser Theater, which is on the campus of Montclair State University located next to the Red Hawk Deck. According to the Peak Performances website, “Analogy/Dora: Tramontane is based on an oral history Bill T. Jones conducted with 94-year-old Dora Amelan, a French Jewish woman who served as a nurse and social worker during World War II. Dora’s harrowing, touching and inspirational story is the basis for choreography, narrative, and music. Dora: Tramontane is a meditation on perseverance, resourcefulness and resilience.”
Food options are available on campus as well at the Red Hawk Diner that is open all night. It is located on the far side of the campus. Another option for light refreshments after Analogy/Dora: Tramontane is Cafe Diem, which now serves food from Au Bon Pain. It is located close to the Kasser Theater. The cafe is located next to the library, which is across from the theater, and the diner is just a short walk across campus. Please feel free to check out of these food services.
Tickets for Analogy/Dora: Tramontane are available at the box office located in the Alexander Kasser Theater or online at the Peak Performances website, peakperfs.org. Montclair undergraduate students are permitted one free ticket with their student ID. All tickets are $20. The Kasser Theater is located towards the front of campus next to the Red Hawk Parking Deck. Parking is available in the Red Hawk Deck as well as the Transit Parking Deck across campus. Public transportation that runs directly in front of the Kasser Theater is also available.
