The performance is to take place May 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m., May 4 at 8 p.m. and May 5 at 2 p.m. The show will be performed in Fox Theatre.

An adaptation of the book-length poem by Andrew Lippa, “Wild Party” is a graphic musical tale, filled with Manhattan decadence and set in the “roaring twenties.”

His show tells the story of a “wild party” that occurs one night in a New York apartment belonging to Queenie and Burrs, a vaudeville chorus girl and her lover – a black-face minstrel. The evening flies by with a boisterous guest list and some midnight debauchery that ends in early morning tragedy, a gruesome event that sobers the high-flying characters and reminds us “that no party lasts forever.” The award-winning score, also written by Andrew Lippa, helps to drive the story and musically depict the characters’ passions as they become out of control.

Patrons are advised to consider the fact that this show contains mature subject matter, adult themes and content. It is recommended only for older audience members.

Andrew Lippa tickets are available for $15 each and are available to be purchased either at the Alexander Kasser Theater Box Office, or online at the peak performance website. The Alexander Kasser Theater Box Office is open regularly Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. In addition to this, it is open for extended hours during the days of the performances, from 10 a.m. until the show begins.

Alternatively, one ticket is available for all Montclair State undergraduate students who wish to reserve one at the box office. A valid student I.D. must be presented in this case, when reserving the ticket.

Tickets typically are bought quickly – especially in the case of a show as well-known and certain-to-be-good as this – so make sure to go early if getting good seats, sitting together with a group or going on a certain night is a priority.

Most conveniently, parking is available in Red Hawk Parking Deck, the building next to Alexander Kasser Theater. A fully-automated facility, you will receive a ticket when entering that can be brought to any of the Pay Stations on levels 2, 4 or 5 of the deck. At this time, it should be noted that the parking facility is accepting cash only.

For those feeling a bit peckish before or after the Andrew Lippa show, Montclair State University offers a variety of well-priced eateries including Café Diem, which sells a myriad of Starbucks-like coffees, pastries and snacks and the Red Hawk Diner which, like most diners, offers a large selections of full meals. There is metered parking available in the lot by the diner, at a rate of 75 cents per half hour for a maximum of three hours. These meters only accept cash.

A night out experiencing this performance will surely offer you and your friends one heck of a wild party – hopefully one that doesn’t end up as sour as the one in the show.
