Emmys Represents Glamour

The 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards aired on Sept. 22 at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, Calif. A huge night for fashion, celebrities debuted many fashion trends on the red carpet that made big statements.

Emmys excellence was achieved on the red carpet.

Stars were pretty in pink this year. Wearing different shades from light blush to bold purple, celebrities rocked many variations, making it the color of the night.

Debuting her new blond hair, Australian actress Rose Byrne showed off some skin in a gorgeous pale pink Calvin Klein Collection dress at the Emmys. The column gown had a touch of sex appeal, revealing just a tiny amount of mid-drift that at the same time was simple and elegant.  Turning heads was Allison Janney of CBS’s Moms who looked stunning in a bold fuchsia colored Lorena Sarbu dress. Other celebrities such as January Jones, Julie Bowen and Jewel rocked the pink trend on the red carpet as well.

Another big Emmys trend of the night was tomato-red lips. A lot of stars made big statements with their bold lip choices. Orange is the New Black star Taylor Schilling completed her simple white look with a pop of red on her lips. Winning an Emmy for the second year in a row for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Homeland’s Claire Danes also wore a bright red lip that night. With her faux bob, simple makeup look and elegant Armani Privé gown, the red lips were a perfect touch for Danes.

As for hairstyles, a lot of stars displayed many variations of loose waves. Dominating the Emmys red carpet, tousled curls were seen on many stars. Julianne Hough, who didn’t earn a spot on many best-dressed lists for her sheer skirted gown by Jenny Packham, did get recognized for her gorgeous waves. Hough’s hairstyle was created by Riawna Capri of Nine Zero Salon, who brought an edge to the sparkly and girly dress Hough was wearing. Hough’s hair was one of the most-hyped hairstyles of the evening.

Also, in a jaw-dropping red gown showing off her curves by Vera Wang was Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara, who wore a classic middle part with long and soft cascading waves to complete her sexy look. To top off Vergara’s already perfect look was the $7 million worth of jewelry she was wearing, which brings us to our next red carpet trend— emerald gems.

Vergara was wearing a variety of gems, from her ruby, sapphire and Colombian emerald earrings to her 21-carat Asscher-cut diamond ring and her 40-carat Columbian emerald and rose-cut diamond ring. Another Modern Family star was sporting an emerald gem that evening as well. To match her sparkly green and black gown by Carolina Herrara, Sarah Hyland wore long emerald earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. Maria Menounos and Christina Hendricks also flaunted emerald pieces that night.

From the vast variety of pretty pink shades and bold statement gems, the red carpet was full of trends that many celebrities were involved with. With high expectations celebrities definitely delivered with their eye-catching looks. There’s no doubt the Emmys was definitely a good night for fashion.
