Now that fall is here, Halloween is just around the corner. Don’t forget to plan all of your haunted needs and make a day of it with your kids, friends or family! Here are some great options in New Jersey for all of your haunting needs:

  • Located in Passaic just a short drive from Montclair, Brighton Asylum is a great option for those who want the same experience as Eastern State Penitentiary but can’t make it all the way to Philadelphia. According to their website, Brighton’s industrial complex, a series of old and decrepit warehouses, was used for housing mentally unstable and psychologically damaged individuals back in the mid 1940’s.
  • Another great option is the Scare Farm at Norz Hill Farm in Hillsborough, N.J. According to New Jersey Haunted Houses, ScareFarm, formerly Creepy Hollow has three great haunts, including Creepy Hollow, a walk through haunted corn trail and Paranoia, also a walk through haunted corn trail. Additionally, they offer Slay Ride, which is a Haunted Hay Ride.
  • Another option a little further from north Jersey can be found in Jackson. There is a legend in the Legends of New Jersey that at Gravity Hill, if you drive up the hill and put your car in neutral, some strange force will push your car back up the hill and leave handprints on your rear window. Legend has it that it’s the ghost of a father who had his child murdered, and he is now haunting the hill to push people away from his dead child. The walk at the Nighmare on Gravity Hill brings visitors close and personal with the Haunted past. Dare to step through the village Gates at Gravity Hill you will be Terrorized by an army of Ghouls, Zombies and the Macabre, according to New Jersey Haunted Houses.

Most of these options will become extremely busy as soon as October hits, so be sure to get whatever tickets might be required or book any reservations so you can get your scare on without a problem for Halloween!
