Join the Wellmont Theater as it welcomes ‘I Love the 90s’
Attention all 90s kids: mark your calendars for Feb. 25 to experience the kick-off of the “I Love the 90s” Tour at the Wellmont Theater. Featuring some of the biggest names in hip-hop music, the concert’s official lineup includes artists like Salt-N-Pepa, Coolio, Color Me Badd, Tone Loc, Kid ‘n Play, and Rob Base!
Salt N’ Pepa came together in 1985 reaching the top of the charts with some of their hits such as “Shoop,” “Whatta Man,” “Let’s Talk About Sex” and “Push It.” They’ve won many awards for their music including an MTV Video Music Award for Best Electronic Dance Music video in 1994 and a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 1995.
As well as Salt N’ Pepa, joining us we have yet another Grammy Award winner, Coolio. Coolio is best known for his songs, “Fantastic Voyage” and “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which were some of the biggest rap songs of all time sitting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for nearly three weeks in 1995.
Rob Base will also be in attendance, bringing to us several of their hits including “Joy and Pain,” “It Takes Two” and “Get On The Dance Floor.” And finally, multi-award winner Tone Loc will be making an appearance with some of his popular singles like “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina,” both in which won a Grammy Award as well back in the late 1980s. Unfortunately, DJ E-Z Rock died in 2014, but he will always be remembered.
This stacked concert is sure to be one you won’t want to miss. For one memorable night only you’ll get to flash back in time and maybe even feel like a kid again. You’ll get the chance to escape into the music and get lost in all the fun and exciting memories that these artists created for you when you listened to them twenty years ago!
“When I heard that this tour was coming to Montclair, I was blown away. Every now and then I put on old throwback songs and reminisce on the past for a little with my friends, but this concert will give us the opportunity to share the reminiscing with everyone else who can relate to the music too,” said Jeff Gnutti. “I’m really just excited to re-visit that time period and play back all of the memories that these songs gave to me when I was a kid.”
