YMCA of Montclair hosts gala with Investors Bank.
The Investors Bank has recently been announced as the sponsor for the YMCA of Montclair’s 1891 Community Gala, set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The gala will take place at Mayfair Farms in West Orange. Not only is this the third year that Investors Bank has decided to sponsor the event, but they have agreed to sponsor for the next two years as well.
According to a press release from the YMCA of Montclair, Jo Ann Short, President and CEO of the YMCA of Montclair, is excited to continue working with Investors Bank. “Investors Bank is committed to serving the community and has supported our Gala since its inception. We are excited to continue to build our strong partnership over the next three years,” said Short.
The 2014 gala will honor community leader Penny Boorman of Woodland Park. Boorman is celebrating “over 50 years of dedicated service to the YMCA of Montclair.” She joined the YMCA in 1960 while providing volunteer swim classes and “served as the first female Chair of the Board of Directors.”
The 1891 Community Gala is extremely important to the Montclair area. Over the last three years, the gala has raised nearly half a million dollars, according to the press release. The money raised helps the YMCA’s Financial Assistance Program, which “provides scholarships to families and individuals with demonstrated need from our community.” The 2013 gala helped over 300 children attend YMCA summer camps. The money raised also helped 400 individuals to become members and over 200 children to get safe after school care.
Co-chairs of the event are Montclair’s own Rich and Susan Murnick. Tickets to the gala are available now, and those interested in attending are encouraged to get theirs before it’s too late!
