Michael Lee Aday, formerly known as Marvin Lee Aday, is an American musician and actor, best known by his stage name, Meat Loaf. He will be performing at The Wellmont Theater on Friday, March 18. You’ve probably heard Meat Loaf’s hit single that won a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance, “I’d Do Anything for Love.” He has built quite a reputation for himself with his powerful wide-ranging operative voice and theatrical live performances.
“Who doesn’t love that song, ‘I’d Do Anything for Love?’ It’s so catchy,” said Liam Reyes, Communications Major at William Patterson.
Meat Loaf has appeared in over 50 movies and television shows, sometimes as himself or even a character similar to his stage persona. He’s recently been featured in television shows such as Monk, Glee, South Park, House, M.D. and Tales from the Crypt.
He is also noted for the Bat Out of Hell trilogy of albums, which include Bat Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose. The first album actually sold more than 43 million copies worldwide. Even 40 years after the release, it still sells an estimated 200,000 copies annually, landing a spot on the charts for over nine years and making it one of the best selling albums of all time.
