Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence (MFEE) is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an exhilarating event for the great town of Montclair. The event will take place on Sunday, May 22 at 1:00 p.m. in Nishuane Park. The race is expected to finish at 4:30 p.m. with an after-party at Egan & Son’s on 118 Walnut St. Prediction for this event is fun and friendly competition. Sign up to race, support a team or be a sponsor and assist in raising funds for Montclair Public Schools!

“The FUNDRACER has already proven to be a great fundraiser and community-building event for MFEE.  Who would have thought that so many people would be willing to stick their necks out and do something a little off-the-wall for our public schools?” said Masiel Rodriquez-Vars, MFEE Executive Director. “We created the FUNDRACER to underscore the idea that we all have a stake in our public schools.  And so many wonderful people responded to that notion. We have the most amazing group of people racing in this event – everyone from teachers and administrators, to Montclair Public Librarians, firefighters and police officers.  It will be a blast to watch them all compete!”

There will be only 50 teams of two, ages 18 and up, who will race on foot and bike to various locations around town. At each location, teams must complete a challenge to earn a clue in pointing to the next location. First one at the finish line is the winner!

In order to enter, a team must raise at least $400. go to safesite.4agoodcause.com for team pages. The first 50 teams to raise $400 will qualify to compete, including a race T-shirt and tickets to the after-party. Here’s the twist: for every additional $125 raised, each team can buy an additional clue or other form of assistance with the challenges.

This Earle can calmly wrangle hordes of MHS teens without blinking. He may be a gentle giant, but throw him in a competition and he could prove his fierce NFL days are not behind him. His partner in life and in racing, Susan, may prove to be the more competitive of the two.

They may only have one good hip between them – but they are the hippest teachers at MHS. CGI teachers Tom Manos (History) and Sally Howell-Rembert (English) have been creatively teaching their students about historic figures like Alexander Hamilton long before Lin Manuel-Miranda. They can out-talk, out-read and out-wit any team in this race.
