Music festival fashion can be simple and cheap.
Between Ultra already coming up this weekend, Warped Tour being in July and a whole lot of shows in between, if you are music lover you won’t want to miss any of these shows. Deciding what to wear to these types of music shows may seem difficult. You want to have the perfect outfit, but also be comfortable and prepared. With warm weather coming up you have to keep in mind the hot sun beaming down on you, and with all the dancing you are going to be doing, comfortable shoes are a necessity. Being extra prepared for these types of events is key so looking your best while on a budget may seem difficult, but it’s not as hard as you think.
One essential you are going to need is a cute pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun. Cheap sunglasses that you won’t mind breaking or losing can be found at any store such as Forever 21, Target or even at a local dollar store. You are going to be dancing a whole lot and there are going to be tons of people around you, so bringing a pair of your favorite sunglasses is not a smart idea. Swapping out for a cheap, yet festive pair would be the best idea.
You may be standing and dancing for hours and the first thing that is going to start hurting is going to be your feet. If you plan on dancing the entire night, you want to be extra prepared and wear a comfy pair of shoes. Sneakers work best because you do not have to worry about losing a flip flop in the crowd. Find an old pair of sneakers you don’t mind ruining or buy a cheap pair instead. Urban Outfitters, right here in Montclair, sometimes has great deals on cute little sneakers, so if you spot them in the store one day snag them up right away. Another store is Love Culture, where you can find a cute studded pair of high tops for only $13.
Electric Daisy Carnival, also known as EDC, is definitely the wildest of the bunch. This is one show you are going to see the craziest outfits out there and creating your own on a budget is easy. Start with a basic outfit, whether a plain colored crop top that can be found at Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Brandy Melville and decorate away. Flowers and rhinestones from a local art store can help amp up an entire outfit.
If you are deciding to keep it casual at a music event such as Warped Tour, investing in an outfit is simple. You are going to be going from stand to stand and don’t need to worry about ruining an outfit just pair a graphic tee with some high-waisted shorts, Converse and you are set. Be sure to dress light because the sun can get very hot. Applying a sunscreen will also be a lifesaver. No one wants a crazy t-shirt line.
Another thing I’ve learned from going to music festivals is the struggle of keeping your belongings together without having to bring a purse. No one wants to bother holding a heavy bag on their shoulder the entire night, so the best alternative is a fanny pack. They have cheap ones you can find anywhere, but if your looking to invest in a cute one, Urban Outfitters has some that are absolutely perfect and they just scream music festival. They are so stylish you won’t mind strapping it around your waist. So keeping your phone, money, ID and anything else you need with you can be fashionable.
So accessorize away, stay hydrated, apply sunscreen and wear comfy shoes and you are set for the night. Being prepared makes the night a whole lot more fun and worth it. So go shopping around Montclair and I can assure you that you will be able to round up a few items that will be perfect for any music show or shows you are going to!
