If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, look no further than Montclair’s very own Nishuane Park, located off Cedar Avenue in Montclair. Aside from simply taking a stroll through the park this weekend, visit it on Friday, July 25 for a special showing of The Blind Side at 9 p.m.

The Blind Side is a 2009 film and recipient of multiple awards. Sandra Bullock herself won five awards for her role in the film, including the Academy Award for Best Actress.

The Blind Side is a semi-biographical movie that follows the story of Michael Oher, a homeless boy who stayed with the Tuohy family and used their love to better himself both as a person and as a football player. Oher then went on to become a first round NFL draft pick and an All-American football player. This inspiring story is the perfect tale for a family movie night.

Nishuane Park is 17-acres and is full of things to do, from sport fields to a playground, swimming pool and outdoor stage. There is also a parking lot available for residents. Be sure to stop by the park early, set up blankets and chairs, maybe have a picnic and enjoy the summer weather.

Can’t make it this weekend? You have two more chances to take advantage of the 2014 Montclair Film Festival Summer Series, at different locations each time. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs will be playing on Thursday, Aug. 7 at the Montclair Public Library and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off will be playing on Friday, Aug. 22. on Church Street.

These venues open at 8 p.m. and will have live music starting at 8:15 p.m., followed by the movie at 9 p.m. Take advantage of this free series by the Montclair Film Festival, relax before the show and have a great night out with the family. Be sure to check for inclement weather information and any other inquiries on the Montclair Film Festival website, montclairfilmfest.org.
