Red Eye Cafe, located on Walnut Street near the train station, is a Montclair prize, being named as one of the best cafes in New Jersey, as well as the Critics Choice for brunch. Known for their delicious cups of coffee, Red Eye Cafe offers a variety of almost two dozen choices of coffee to choose from. Available iced or hot, the coffee at this cafe sure seems to be the best “pick-me-up” in town.

Red Eye Cafe offers a smorgasbord of options for breakfast and lunch, including their famous cups of coffee. Breakfast, which is served until 4 p.m., offers an array of menu items to choose from to satisfy your appetite. Some items on the breakfast menu include: the “Red Eye Sub” which has two fried eggs, hash browns with espresso, hot sauce and gravy; the “Frittata,” which has Spanish Chorizo, eggs, potatoes and onions on ciabatta with fresh spinach; the “Pesto Broccoli” which has scrambled eggs, smoked gouda and ketchup on a challah roll; the “Sweet Scramble” which has cheesy scrambled eggs with onion jam and arugula on an English muffin; the “Elvis” which has banana, peanut butter and honey on multigrain toast and much more!

Other than selling just breakfast sandwiches, Red Eye Cafe also serves breakfast plates including buttermilk pancakes with the option to add-in bananas and walnuts, blueberries or chocolate chips, Greek yogurt with your choice of cherry granola, fresh fruit or honey, french toast, green eggs and ham or an omelette of your choice.

As for lunch, Red Eye Cafe offers a variety of sandwiches just like breakfast. Some of the sandwiches are: the “Ham & Smoked Gouda” which has artichoke, garlic mustard sauce and fresh spinach on ciabatta; the “Hummus and Hot Sauce” with cucumber, roasted peppers and carrots on multigrain toast; the “Blue Velvet” which has roasted beef with pickled blueberries and shallots, cream cheese and arugula on ciabatta; the “Turkey & Pear” which has brie, avocado, arugula and herb mayo on multigrain; the “Tarragon Chicken Salad” which has white meat chicken salad and tomatoes on a cranberry walnut bread and much more.
