Montclair Run raises money for local scholarships.
Looking for something fun to do while helping out your community, especially our community program scholarships? The YMCA of Montclair is working alongside the Township of Montclair’s Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs to provide their 32nd annual Montclair Run on Sunday, June 1.
The race will feature two different race styles. The first will be a “fun run,” a two-mile run/walk; the second will be a 10-K road race. The two-mile fun run will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the 10-K kicking off after at 9:30 a.m. and awards following each race. Both races will begin and end at the YMCA of Montclair, located at 25 Park Street.
According to a press release from the YMCA of Montclair, the Montclair Run is expected to see “more than 1,400 runners, walkers, volunteers and spectators of all ages from across Essex County and beyond.”
The race is co-directed by Pat Brechka, the Township of Montclair’s Director of Recreational and Cultural Affairs, and Carol Kearney, Program Coordinator for the YMCA of Montclair. Brechka hopes to beat last year’s amount raised, which totaled over $18,500.
Interested participants can register one of three ways. The first is an online registration at raceforum.com/montclair, which must be completed by May 26. The second is in person, either at the YMCA of Montclair on Park Street or the Township of Montclair’s Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs at 205 Claremont Avenue by May 29. Participants can also register in person at Fleet Feet Sports at 603 Bloomfield Avenue by May 31. Lastly, participants are also able to register the morning of the event, starting at 7 a.m.
Even if you’re not a fan of running, be sure to check out this event for some other perks, including sport massages, a live DJ and games for the kids. Be sure to come by and cheer on the participants in this great event for an even better cause!
