Kick off the new year with Speakeasy, presented by Amanti Vino and the Montclair Food & Wine Festival, on Saturday, Jan. 28. It is set to take place at Montclair’s prized venue, the Wellmont Theater.
“Initially Amanti Vino was planning on hosting a small speakeasy. But then Melody and I met and discussed ways to join forces. With Amanti vino and the MFWF together, we realized we could attract all the best restaurants, wine, beer, spirit and cider suppliers and a large group of attendees,” said Sharon Sevrens, proprietor and co-president of Amanti Vino.
The Speakeasy will evoke the Prohibition era of the 1920s, with illicit libations curated by Amanti Vino, fine culinary bites from more than 20 area restaurants, and the sultry sound of Trent Armand Kendall + Brass Illusion.
“The repeal of Prohibition was ratified on Jan. 28 so we thought it would be fun to throw a party at which people could celebrate the enjoyment of alcohol while listening to great music and enjoying some great food. And we have found that people enjoy dressing up in 1930s garb,” said Melody Kettle of Montclair Food and Wine Festival.
Tickets on sale now at Amanti Vino by calling 973-509-WINE, by emailing sharon@amantivino.com or via Ticketmaster. Guests are encouraged to come in period costume!
“We hope to raise money for both Intensive Therapeutics and DIGs, introduce people to the great food and alcohol available in Montclair, and show people a really fun night,” said both Sevrens and Kettle.
