Spring essentials that you need.
We have been getting teased with some warm weather lately, but none of us can deny that we have been waiting for the 80 and 70 degree weather. It almost felt like winter would never leave! Many of us girls are anxious to bring out of our closets: skirts, sun dresses, and sandals, and you have to admit spring is probably one of the loveliest seasons of the year. One great thing about spring is that you don’t necessarily have to get rid of everything in your closet, you can still work with some winter trends until summer is officially here, but if you need to update your closet for the latest trends, here are some of the must have items for this spring, according to some fashionistas on Montclair campus.
Before I give you Montclair’s spring essentials, I have to say that if you aren’t fashion obsessed, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try picking up one of these items from your favorite store. If it happens that your store doesn’t have them, walk in to a different store and get to know a new side of you that you didn’t know existed. Remember: fashion is what you buy; style is how you wear it!
The number one item is a white blouse. We no longer follow the old saying of “no white after Labor Day.” White is such a pure color and, well, it’s pretty obvious that it goes with just about anything!
This year’s color is emerald. It’s such a pretty color and it will work all year round. And yes, it’s a must-have. Some of the girls here advised a knitted sweater in this color, so don’t put them away just yet ladies. Nevertheless, you definitely want to try something in this color.
Nude pumps! They never get old, and you must keep them around this spring. Being that emerald is the color of the year, if you mix these two, it would be an amazing combination. If you don’t like pumps, try some nude flats. After all, walking all day in these can be worse than walking on hot coals (well, maybe not).
Let’s not forget the “it” show for the season: the strap shoe. I must say, this is far beyond my favorite shoe. How cute is this shoe? They are just perfect for a night out in the city or the work place. You can dress these up with a dress, skirt and even some dressy floral slacks. The “it” shoe is available everywhere; you might want to try Piazza Della Sole on Valley Road for these babies. They come in various heel sizes, too.
Last but not least, a floral blazer. We have to incorporate the spring somehow! The floral blazer comes in a numerous patterns and colors, so you can find one that is made just for you. One great thing about this item is that you can wear it up or down. Some jeans, pants, dress, or shorts, you can’t go wrong with this one. Take a stroll through the aisles of swapXXchange, the best thrift boutique in town on Bloomfield Avenue, for the perfect blazer.
With the bright colors, you can be sure you’ll catch some eyes out there. Just try to not break anyone’s neck, as everyone will be looking at you!
