STEMfestival by Glen Ridge First

If you’re looking for a fun and educational event that is fun for the whole family, coming to Glen Ridge this weekend is the third annual STEMfestival, hosted by Glen Ridge First. The festival will be on Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will be hosted at the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge. Glen Ridge First is a 100 percent volunteer-based non-profit that supports, promotes and generates interest in children of all ages.

According to their website, Glen Ridge First “is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing, promoting, fostering and supporting interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math amongst children in the Glen Ridge community and the surrounding communities from the ages of 6 to 18.”

The STEMfestival will show attendees how fun science, technology, engineering and math can be, according to Yin Chang of Glen Ridge First. “This isn’t just about having fun,” said Chang. “Kids and adults can learn something new.”

Giant LEGO sculptures, electricity displays, a Maker Village, robots and more are just some of the hands-on activities that will be part of the STEMfestival. Everyone is welcome, including families and children of all ages. Some activities for attendees include LEGO exhibits, an electrical exhibit by the Franklin Institue and interactive demonstrations.

Some exhibitors coming to the STEMfestival include the Franklin Institute, Super Scientific Circus, LEGO, pre-college programs from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Ramapo College, Maker Village, Mad Science, Binary code crafts and more.

Tickets for the STEMfestival are available online now through Friday, April 1 at 8 p.m. and offer exclusive discounts for online purchases. Tickets bought in advance online are $5 for children, $8 for adults or $18 for a family of four. Tickets purchased in person at the door are cash-only and are $10 per person.
