T-Shirt Styles with Urban Outfitters

Fashion expert and writer Nicole Spataro shares her tips and tricks to styling the T-shirt you've always loved (or just had to have).

The T-shirt is your new go-to.

I bet you didn’t know that plain old T-shirt could be so fab. Newsflash, the styling options are endless–from work to weekend–and one of the trendiest, local stores to find the perfect tee is the hugely popular Urban Outfitters (UO). Take it from style experts and celebs Vanessa Hudgens, Perrie Edwards, and Lucy Hale, who are frequent shoppers of the store (see paparazzi snaps). Urban Outfitters is in no shortage of effortlessly hot looks. While the franchise is known to push limits and take risks with their sometimes controversial graphic tees, fashion lovers have taken on the styling challenge of chic-ing up the basics, day and night. Five tricks to tackling the T-shirt await you.

1. Make A Statement

Take advantage of UO’s large variety of bold and funny T-shirts. Combine silly and chic for one stylish look by tucking a graphic tee into a fitted pencil skirt. This casual combo is sure to be an attention grabber for all the right reasons.

2. Tie A Knot

One of my favorite fashion secrets: articles of clothing don’t always have to be worn the way they were made for. T-shirts look well fitted and flirty (and you look resourceful) when knotted at the bottom or to the side. Pair with a high waistline to tease a glimpse of your tummy.

3. Keep It Classy

A Jen Aniston inspired look and blogger favorite is the T-shirt-under-a-blazer combo. A well tailored blazer deserves center stage and the basic tee serves as no distraction. The pair is an easy way to stay comfortable and professional. Add heels for extra glam.

4. Break A Sweat

The once cute T-shirt in the back of your closet just doesn’t cut it for the public eye anymore. It’s old, torn and worn out, but you simply can’t part: time to recycle. We all partake in an occasional exercise (if not, what are you doing?), so throw on your favorite old tee that always makes you feel fabulous with cute yoga leggings and Nikes for a quick jog in the park or a day of head-spinning errands.

5. Try A New Denim

Boyfriend jeans are everywhere right now, and nothing goes better with denim than a plain white T-shirt. While the everyday fashionista often dresses up the loose, distressed jeans, the simple gal will find that they work best with basics, so try that knot trick you just learned at slot #2. Boyfriend jeans look great with chic flats, skate sneakers, and heels.

Score the cutest T-shirts around on the streets of Montclair, starting at Urban Outfitters. The store has several floors and a great selection of merchandise including a section for home décor and shoes. There is also a entire room devoted to sale merchandise, so you can nab a few pieces in one shopping trip without breaking the bank. Now go style those tees like a pro!
