Make Table Leg Home a part of your home.
Montclair business gained a fierce competitor last June with Table Leg Home’s opening at 4 South Fullerton Ave. Table Leg Home gathered funky new items and a large clientele base as word spread through Montclair the past few months. The shop features home furnishings and decorations hand-picked by owner Zachary Tischbein. The contemporary chic boutique serves the community’s need for flair; Table Leg Home has almost anything you could ever want to furnish your home or give as a gift.
Before opening Table Leg Home, Tischbein was a designer for 15 years. He spent a lot of time in the local shops around Brooklyn and Rhinebeck, N.Y. Tischbein loved the mix of local artistry and found objects in the shops, and he celebrated the contrast between old and new. “I wanted to do something more creative and less corporate,” said Tischbein. He used his creative instincts and background in fashion to design his own shop. Tischbein had a friend who ran a business in Montclair, so he decided to check out the market for his own purposes. He found the perfect spot for his store: Table Leg Home.
“The mission was really to bring a well curated home and gift store to Montclair,” said Tischbein. “I felt there was a white space for a store that wasn’t antiques and wasn’t mass market.”
Tischbein set out to fill this gap in the Montclair community. He created Table Leg Home to showcase a collection of items that mirror his own artistic flair. The shop features everything from chairs and pillows to candles and mugs. Unique decorations and cute designs line the walls. Table Leg Home reflects Tischbein’s style, in a way; if he doesn’t love a piece, it won’t go in the store. The goal was to create “a store that reflected the people living in the town,” according to Tischbein.
Tischbein finds inspiration in anything and everything. One of his favorite interior designers, John Derian, is heavily inspired by nature.
“The community is so supportive of the store, and really tried to support small business,” said Tischbein. It looks like he found the perfect place for Table Leg Home; lucky for us, it’s right in the center of our Montclair community.
