Upstairs Restaurant brings great food selections.

Upstairs Restaurant is Montclair’s hidden gem that is located at 608 Valley Road, just above Dai-Kichi, that offers a trendy New York City ambiance to the Montclair community.

Opening in July of 2011, Upstairs offers a large variety of American food as well as drinks seven days a week. At Upstairs, the menus change seasonally and they offer over 20 different types of wines by the glass, over 50 types by the bottle as well as over 100 spirits. Upstairs also offers a full bar with drinks of affordable price ranging from house-made cocktails to their selection of craft beers.

Currently at Upstairs, some of their special meals on their menu include “Ricotta Gnocchi” which is made with shiitake mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, parmesan cheese and basil, “Grilled Swordfish” which has mangu, mango tomatillo salsa and plantain chips, as well as their self titled “Upstairs Burger” which includes brioche, bourbon relish, cheese of choice and side and much more.

As for their drinks, they are currently serving favorites such as “Winter Sangria” which is made with sangiovese, blackberry, Brandy, ginger, clove and bitters, “Fall Behind” which is made with rosemary vodka, St. Germain, Chartreuse and white cranberry and “First Frost” figenza, lychee liqueur, white cranberry and lime. Upstairs even offers Happy Hour on Sundays and Mondays all day long.

Upstairs is open from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. If you are interested in visiting Upstairs, both reservations and walk-ins are welcomed, and parties for six or more are encouraged to call ahead. Regarding payment, Upstairs accepts Visa, American Express, Mastercard and Discover cards.

“I actually heard about this restaurant [Upstairs] through a friend who came here one night. She told me that it was so delicious and that I couldn’t miss out,” said Bloomfield resident, Jessie Lederle. “Now my husband and I are regulars. We even have suggested Upstairs to many of our friends!”
