What to expect at Firefly Music Festival this summer.
This June, thousands of music enthusiasts, families and friends from around the world will gather at Firefly Music Festival from June 16 through 19 in The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway for four days of music and unforgettable memories.
“Firefly Music Festival is a premier music experience set among lush wooded landscapes, featuring renowned headliners and emerging artists,” wrote an official correspondent from the festival in an article discussing the high demand for passes in 2015. “Guests witness unforgettable performances and discover the engaging attractions nestled around every turn that make Firefly a can’t-miss summer tradition for music fans from around the world.”
This summer marks Firefly’s fifth anniversary, so get ready to celebrate along with headliners Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine, Kings of Leon, Ellie Goulding and Deadmau5. They will be joined by Tame Impala, Blink-182, ASAP Rocky, Fetty Wap, Major Lazer and Disclosure.
“I’m highly anticipating a riveting performance from the band Grouplove,” said attendee Will Swain. “I’ve already begun to put together a list of my must-see performances at Firefly.”
Other artists include Ludacris, MØ, Saint Motel, Flogging Molly, Vince Staples, CHVRCHES, Death Cab for Cutie and Earth Wind & Fire. You can view the full lineup at fireflyfestival.com.
“I’m very excited to live my childhood dream and dance to Ludacris live,” said Ava Rooney, who will be attending Firefly this summer along with several friends.
General Admission, VIP tickets and single day passes can be purchased online. Be sure to purchase tickets beforehand, because tickets will not be sold at the gate. The four day festival welcomed around 90,000 attendees last summer, and is expecting to see a similar outcome this June.
While the abundance of musical performances are an experience unlike any other, the fun doesn’t stop there. Camping at the festival is a whole other experience that ranks Firefly among music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Coachella and Electric Forest. There are several options for camping at Firefly with tent camping as the most popular way to camp with nearly 70,000 campers, RV camping, group camping and “glamping,” glamourous camping which includes a private air-conditioned tent and access to the glamping lounge. Tent camping provides attendees with a 10’ x30’ camping space for up to six people with space for one tent and one standard car or SUV.
“I wish I was glamping, but I can’t wait to tent camp to get the full experience and meet so many interesting people from all over,” said Rooney.
On top of the music performances, Firefly includes various other attractions to keep attendees entertained the entire long weekend. This summer, Firefly will continue its partnership with Delaware’s Dogfish Head Craft Brewery to provide The Brewery, where you can go and refresh with a cold beer or two to escape the Delaware heat. The Thicket is among Firefly’s most popular attraction, a silent disco where only guests wearing provided headphones can hear the music, giving them an exclusive dance party. With all the trees in The Woodlands, Firefly provides The Hammock Hangout where festival goers can escape the music and the heat to hang out in hammocks with friends. To top it all off, Firefly provides a variety of dining experiences, including vegan and vegetarian options.
