The New Jersey Realtor Good Neighbor Awards honor professionals who exceed expectations within their communities. This year, Montclair realtor Theresa Loch of Keller Williams NJ Metro Group was awarded second place. She attended a ceremony on Dec. 6 at the Triple Play Realtor Convention & Trade Expo.

“I was thrilled that the NJ Realtor Association recognized the efforts and the importance of the Nutley Family Service Bureau to the community,” said LochTheresa Loch has been a realtor for 16 years. She received the Good Neighbor Award for her work as a volunteer board trustee member in the NFSB. The organization aims to strengthen the wellbeing of the community through affordable social and mental health services. Loch has held her position with the NFSB for the last four years.

The NFSB was founded in 1913.  Its mission was to serve the community. As government and state programs offered more care to citizens over the years, the NFSB shifted to focus more on therapy and counseling. Today, it offers programs such as Nutley Empowering Teens, Teen Leadership and Senior Connections. It provides individual, couple and family therapy to the community, as well as sponsors a local Thrift Shop. The shop’s funds directly support NFSB programs.

In addition, it sponsors a food pantry that serves around 135 people on a regular basis. The American Red Cross ran the food pantry until 2015, when it could no longer afford to keep the Nutley branch open. Loch knew that many community members relied on the food pantry – and she refused to see it close. With Loch’s help, the NFSB attained the property and kept the pantry’s doors open.

“As Realtors, we receive sales awards each year – or we strive to,” said Loch on the importance of the Good Neighbor Award. “Sometimes, we are lucky enough to receive one that means so much more than how many homes we sold that year.”

Loch expressed pride in her Montclair agency, Keller Williams, for supporting her in her volunteer work. “They are a strong supporter of me and all their agents to get out and volunteer in the community,” she said. Loch currently resides in Nutley with her family. The Good Neighbor Award provided the NFSB $1500 for Loch’s outstanding dedication and service.

Joseph Orazi of Long and Foster Real Estate in Ocean City received first place in the awards. Orazi co-founded Toast Pink, an organization that helps local cancer patients and their families. Andee Post of Keller Williams Valley Realty, in Woodcliff Lake, won third place for her work with the Hackensack Municipal Alliance.
