Come “Sing High” at the Outpost Benefit.
Jimmy Webb must be glad to know that a man of many talents, by the name of Kenny White, will be opening for him at this show. In addition to being a New York City-based singer-songwriter and studio session keyboardist, White also has a following in his artistic repertoire. He composes and produces numerous jingles for television and radio commercials, working with timeless stars such as Gladys Knight and Marc Cohn, writing film scores and even being an essayist for The Black Body.
White can be compared to equally talented artists, such as R.E.M. and even Billy Joel, as heard in material such as “Gotta Sing High,” “But Never Like This,” Symphony in 16 Bars” (written right after his father’s passing in 2003) and “In My Recurring Dream.”
Over 40 years have come and gone for Webb, and within that time frame he has worked hard to create soulful country and rock numbers with rustic
vocals and jazz-esque piano, such as “Wichita Lineman,” The Highwaymen’s “Highwayman” and “By the Time I Get to Phoenix.” Additional honors include being inducted into the Nashville and National Academy of Popular Music respective Songwriter’s Halls of Fame, as well as the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. He has also worked with musical luminaries such as Amy Grant, Lyle Lovett, David Crosby, Carly Simon and Art Garfunkel, just to name a few. He is highly venerated by popular music magazines such as Blender and MOJO, and also his home state of Oklahoma.
General admission tickets for the Outpost Benefit are $40 in advance and $45 at the door and VIP tickets, which include preferential seating and a wine and cheese reception with Jimmy Webb and Kenny White, are $100.
