Cheap Trick set to entertain the Wellmont Theater.
Cheap Trick, who performed over 5,000 shows and sold more than 20 million records over their career, will be taking the stage at our very own Wellmont Theater on Saturday, Feb. 15.
The band originated in 1973 in a time when rock was making its presence known on the music scene. They will perform at the Wellmont Theater with lead singer Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen on lead guitar, Tom Petersson on bass and Daxx Nielson on drums.
Known for songs like “I Want You To Want Me,” “Surrender,” “Dream Police” and “The Flame,” Cheap Trick has been performing for over 35 years and has reached international stardom. They are also declared to be one of the most covered bands in America by other bands, and are now coming to Montclair’s own Wellmont Theater.
They will be continuing the remainder of their tour in Canada at the end of the month. The band also wrote and performed the theme song to Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert being a Montclair Township native as well – and no stranger to the Wellmont Theater.
Montclair may not be the easiest place to park, but that is because it fills its streets with local businesses and eateries. Egan and Sons is a local pub at 118 Walnut Street and will be open until 2 a.m. the night of the show. Just Jakes at 30 Park Street is also a great place to continue your evening after the show is finished. The entire Bloomfield Avenue area in Montclair is filled with some of the hottest spots in the area.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and the doors will open at 6:30 p.m. If you have not gotten your ticket yet, they are going for as low as $74 on livenation.com. Seats are going fast, so be sure get yours as soon as possible.
Bob Weir & Rat Dog will be taking the stage only days after Cheap Trick on Feb. 20. Emblem3 will also be performing at the Wellmont Theatre this month as part of Live Nation’s booking. Come see what Montclair can entertain you with this month.
