Garland Jeffreys kicks off fall Outpost season.
Get ready Outpost in the Burbs fans! The fall season is set to kick off with their first show on Friday, Sept. 12 with Garland Jeffreys. Jeffreys is set to return for another Outpost concert, this time at Montclair’s Van Vleck House and Gardens, located at 21 Van Vleck Street in Montclair.
Garland Jeffreys is a singer and songwriter, reaching over the musical genres of rock and roll, reggae, blues and soul. His most recent album is Truth Serum, which was released in 2013 and was a great hit on the charts. In September of 2013, Jeffreys released the single “Any Rain” from Truth Serum on the LunaPark/Thirty Tigers label. His blend of genres are sure to please fans of many musical tastes.
According to the Outpost in the Burbs website, “the self-declared ‘King of In-Between’ draws from rock, soul, jazz, reggae and spoken-word poetry. Jeffreys’ perceptive songs confront street romance, street culture, Manhattan at its wildest, and the thorny subject of race in America with candor and vigor. His latest album, Truth Serum, continues in this vein.”
Garland Jeffreys’ tickets are $28 in advance and can be purchased in person at Keil’s Pharmacy, Terra Tea and Studio042. They can also be purchased online at ticketleap.com. The show is from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., so be sure to get there with plenty of time for parking and to ensure you don’t need to rush around before what is sure to be a great show to kick off the new season!
This venue is located just one block over from Valley Road, which has great choices for places to eat before or after the show. One restaurant, Nauna’s Bella Casa, will give you a wonderful experience perfect for the whole family. Naunas offers a wide array of Italian cooking, appetizers, soups, salads, pastas, sandwiches, veal, chicken and seafood dishes. All reasonably priced, from their recommended fried calamari at $9.99, chicken parmigiana at $14.99 and stuffed rigatoni at $13.99.
