Montclair Kimberley Academy named one of top private schools.
The Montclair Kimberley Academy was recently ranked among the best private high schools in all of New Jersey, earning a number nine spot on the list of 100 schools, published by Niche Rankings. MKA falls behind other private schools such as the Princeton Day School and the Hudson School, reaching top ten status among the elite.
According to the scoring, the Montclair Kimberely Academy received an overall “grade” of an A, earning other grades in specific categories: A’s in academics, educational outcomes and teachers; a B in extracurriculars; B+’s in food and student culture/diversity and a B- in sports and fitness.
The Montclair Kimberley Academy offers education for pre-k as well as kindergarten through grade 12, with a total of 992 students enrolled. There is an extreme variety of courses available for students interested in the arts, technology and communications. The Montclair Kimberley Academy also offers sports on a junior varsity and varsity level; many of these sports also enforce a no-cut policy, giving all students a chance to enhance their athletic abilities.
According to the same scoring by Niche Rankings, the Montclair Kimberley Academy is comprised of 55% males and 44% females. The average SAT score for students from MKA is an outstanding 1980, well outscoring the national average of 1750.
This news comes after the Montclair Kimberley Academy was also recognized for raising money to help fight hunger this past April. Two students from the Kimberley Academy worked with an organization, the Partners for Health Foundation, to help put an end to hunger by raising money through a Food Run, raising $2,200 which the Partners for Health Foundation agreed to match to donate a total of $4,400 to the Salvation Army.
