MHS swimming wins two meets.
The Montclair High School (MHS) girls swimming team won its first two meets of the season this past week. The swim team displayed their prowess in meets against Millburn and West Orange high schools. The Mounties topped Millburn 98-72 on Friday, then trounced West Orange 120-50 Monday night, according to a report by NorthJersey.com.
On the boys’ side, MHS split its first two dual meets, suffering a 122-48 loss to Millburn and topping West Orange 88-73.
According to the report, MHS “also swept the three relays in the win over West Orange Friday, while also getting first-place finishes from Lina Koschik (200 free, 500 free), Caroline Miller (50 free), Brown (100 free, 100 breast) and Caro (100 back). Despite falling short to Millburn, two Motclaboys earned first-place finishes, as sophomore Makai Charles won the 100 breast and junior Sam Kirkman won the 100 free.”
Cha O’Leary, a junior at MHS, is also one of the top swimmers for the Montclair YMCA Dolphins, and she set a pair of team records at the Eastern Express Holiday Classic at Rutgers University this past weekend. O’Leary has also qualified for the USA Junior Nationals in both events, also took fourth in the 400 IM.
The Montclair High School swimming team has always seen the support of the community, which is always helpful in big meets such as these. Recently, Studio042 donated $1,162.99 to the Montclair High School Swim team’s booster club. “The swim team was chosen by the buyers on our online team spirit store, MontclairMounties.com, through their purchases,” said Scott Kennedy, CEO of Studio042. “We are proud to make this donation to the swim team.”
