Sefarat offers top-notch Mediterranean cuisine.

Surrounding Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange is a mouth-watering aroma – infused with fresh vegetables, meats, seafood and spices – and it is infectious. The delicious smell traces back to Sefarat Mediterranean Cuisine, a hidden gem that is rising in popularity. The location has seen a lot of turn over through the years, but Sefarat proves they’re here to stay.

There was an obvious pattern in the countless reviews on Trip Advisor, commenting things such as “the service was excellent!” and “Friendly and outgoing staff.” Finally, I set out to speak with the customers myself. People love the way Sefarat makes them feel. When they walk in the door, it’s as if they’re dining elegantly, yet the wait staff and atmosphere is relaxed and their dining experience is casual.

The food, however, is the reason Sefarat’s door remains revolving. Every menu option is delicately hand crafted with the finest and freshest Mediterranean and Turkish ingredients. According to customers, “the food is worth every penny.” I asked some Sefarat “regulars” what exactly keeps them coming back, and one word was frequent: consistency.

After listening to the many rants and raves, I sat down for a Mediterranean meal. I began with a bowl of lentil soup that did not disappoint. For my entrée, I ate the Yogurtlu Tavuk, which is sautéed, buttered, breaded, topped with yogurt and served over chicken kebab. The food was so fantastic and I found myself sad to inhale my last bite because I did not want it to end.

Sefarat is much more than a delicious place to dine. Recently renovated and under new management, they now offer their venue as a host for banquets, parties and catering services. Accommodations range in size from small, intimate, private gatherings to large wedding receptions and office parties. But wait, there’s more! Not only will they host your party, but they also will help you plan! Sefarat is proud to ensure that any and all events held at their establishment are memorable and go off without a hitch.

For those that have not already dined at Sefarat, now is the time! Too busy for a sit-down lunch or dinner? No problem. Sefarat offers take out and delivery. Whether you love seafood, meat or prefer vegetarian cuisine, Sefarat has something for everyone. Sefarat is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00a.m. to 10:00p.m. and on Friday and Saturday they close at 11 p.m. For takeout, call 973-669-3582.
