Coming next month in the Peak Performances lineup is Triptych by Heidi Latsky. Latsky is the artistic director and choreographer for the show, with original music by Chris Brierley, music arrangement by Andrezj Danek and Randall Woolf, lighting by Robert Wierzel, costumes by Carlos Arias, visual consulting by Joan Pierpoline and dramaturgy by Stewart Schulman.

According to the Peak Performances website, “Heidi Latsky is a choreographer who ‘beautifully resets preconceptions about bodies and movement’ (The New Yorker).  Ideas about beauty are often shaped by convention, but Latsky defies convention by exposing the gorgeous virtuosity of unconventional dancers’ bodies in motion in an edgy, intimate way.  With Triptych, comprised of two live works and a new dance created especially for film, she celebrates the essence of individual dancers through movement, exults in the pure joy of movement in a piece created for herself, as an ‘older dancer’ at 56, dancing in juxtaposition with five younger dancers, and reveals the hidden beauty of all bodies. Dance for Film on Location at Montclair State University makes its debut with the world premiere of Heidi Latsky’s short film. With support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the project will bring three outstanding choreographers and cinematographers to campus to collaborate on the creation of short dance films.”

The show will be performed on April 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m., April 18 at 8 p.m. and April 19 at 3 p.m. Food options are available on campus as well at the Red Hawk Diner that is open all night. It is located on the far side of the campus. Another option for light refreshments after Triptych is Cafe Diem, which now serves food from Au Bon Pain. It is located close to the Fox Theater. Please feel free to check out of these food services. Tickets for Triptych are available at the box office located in the Alexander Kasser Theater or online at the Peak Performances website, peakperfs.org. Montclair undergraduate students are permitted one free ticket with their student ID. All tickets are $20.

According to the Peak Performances website, “Dance for Film on Location at Montclair State University is funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.  This program is supported in part by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and the Harkness Foundation for Dance.  Developed in residence at the Alexander Kasser Theater at Montclair State University.”

The Kasser Theater is located towards the front of campus next to the Red Hawk Parking Deck.  Parking is available in the Red Hawk Deck as well as the Transit Parking Deck across campus. Public transportation that runs directly in front of the Kasser Theater is also available. If you are traveling in from the city, Peak Performances is now offering a Peak Bus. Peak Performances runs a charter bus service to and from Manhattan for all Saturday and Sunday performances, and tickets can be purchased along with your show tickets.
