Raymond’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
If you are looking for a fun and vibrant place to have breakfast or brunch, head on over to Raymond’s on Church Street in Montclair, N.J. Raymond’s is the hot spot to indulge in delicious food, so make sure you bring your appetite. The atmosphere, just like the staff, is exciting and friendly.
As I walked in the door, the sounds of utensils clanging together and chatter amongst smiling, satisfied customers quickly became music to my ears – I couldn’t wait to sit down and eat a meal of my own. Inside, you have the choice to sit at the bar, located on the right hand side of the restaurant, take a booth on the opposite end or sit at one of the many tables lining the middle of the venue. Raymond’s décor is very retro; vintage bottles occupy the shelves, white tiles line the walls and floor and the ceiling is made of metal.
I arrived Saturday morning with my husband around 11:00 a.m. and although the place was packed, we were seated right away at a cozy table for two. Despite how busy the place was, our server was at our table right away. We ordered two coffees and took a look at our menus. The food choices are endless: eggs benedict, omelettes, french toast, pancakes, breakfast burritos and more. We settled on an order of French toast and corn battercakes. I expected to wait a bit for the food due to the crowd, but we received our food within minutes.
Our food was amazing! According to my husband, a lover of french toast, this was the best french toast he has ever had. Served with fresh fruit, maple syrup and confectioner’s sugar, Raymond’s french toast was nothing but perfect and fresh. I, on the other hand, am a lover of pancakes but I wanted to try something new and the corn battercakes did not disappoint. They are similar to pancakes but instead of batter they are made with corn meal; this results in a sweeter pancake.
Perhaps the nicest touch of dining at Raymond’s is that you don’t feel rushed. Regardless of how busy it is, you are encouraged to take your time and just enjoy your meal. Even after our plates had been cleared we were offered more coffee and our server never dropped off the check until we asked for it. Raymond’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday they serve brunch from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner until 10 p.m. on Saturday, 9 p.m. on Sunday.
