Young the Giant: Set to Perform

Let the countdown begin–Young the Giant is headed to the Wellmont Theater for October 24, 2015. Like most successful groups, Young the Giant began as a small town band from California in 2004, originally known as the Jakes. Currently a five-man band (percussion: Sameer Gadhia, guitar: Jacob Tilley, bass guitar: Payam Doostzadeh, percussion: Francois Comtois, guitar: Eric Cannata), Young the Giant is on a 22-city tour around the U.S. and Montclair is spoiled to be on their schedule, as they’re Mind Over Matter album is sure to produce an incredible show. Their iconic Indie/alternative sound set them apart from their competitors and landed them a spot opening for Kings of Leon before a 2009 show at the House of Blues in Chicago. They’ve gained fame on the silver screen, too; some of their hit songs have been featured on television shows like MTV’s The Real World: Brooklyn.

This Indie/alternative band has a grunge sound mixed with soft rock to make their music diverse enough for Nirvana or Nickelback fans alike. Their most popular songs include Cough Syrup, Mind Over Matter, and Every Little Thing.

Also adding talent to the Montclair show is their opening band, the Wildling, a talented crew of five (Ryan Levine, Justin Levine, Andrew Ampaya, Erik Janson, and Casey Brothers) based out of California. The band is known for experimenting and writing raw Indie rock material that can definitely amp up the crowd before Young the Giant takes the stage.

The Wellmont Theater couldn’t be any better a venue for this Indie rock concert. Tons of prestigious artists have performed at the Wellmont, Snoop Dogg included. Located at 5 Seymour St., off Bloomfield Ave, the Wellmont Theater was built in 1922 and can seat up 2,600 making it one of the largest venues in the area. It went under a $3 million dollar renovation in 2008, which expanded its seating and added new bars within. They have recently teamed up with Live Nation to acquire top quality bands for their venues in addition to bands like Paramore and Breaking Benjamin that have previously contributed to the Wellmont Theater history. With this partnership they hope to book various performers that appeal to fans of all ages and likings.
