Hey, Montclair! Your local juice bar is getting a major face-lift. The Asana House Juice Bar switched locations a short two weeks ago and has plans to expand their menu. There’s a change in the near future that’s bigger than the menu additions, but the surprise is not to be revealed just yet. While they get into their new groove, I caught up with Greg Williams, owner as of September 2014. He also insisted I come in for a smoothie, and to my delight (I wasn’t surprised) it was out-of-this-world good.

Their change of location won’t throw customers out of wack. “We moved further down the block because we’re twice as big now,” Williams said. “Now we have table seating, we’re expanding our menu. Instead of being a juice bar we’re going to be more of a café.”

The menu already offered specialty ramen noodles, but the new additions are game changers and set the Asana House apart from other local popular eateries. “We’re going to do more Asian cuisine in the evenings,” said Williams.  The vegetarian café has brunch-all-day options that include breakfast burritos, omelets, quesadilla’s, fresh salads and wraps.

Asana House is entirely vegetarian and their working towards using strictly organic ingredients. “We have a lot of organic products right now,” said Williams. “It’s [organic] a healthier product and I think our customer’s appreciate that.”

Quality is always guaranteed, but the organic movement isn’t expected to change the prices, “My goal is to keep the prices as close to what they are now as possible, which is a hard thing because organic is usually twice as expensive.” About 50 percent of their menu is already organic.

Williams says, “We put a lot of love into everything we do.” That proved to be true when I nearly gave myself a brain freeze after slugging back The Espresso Blast super smoothie (got to have that caffeine). The drink included cocoa, honey, cinnamon, soy milk, banana and nutmeg, but I had the friendly server, Isaac, mix peanut butter to the already healthy blend.

Guitars were cornered in the welcoming and soothing lounge area, “We have live music on Friday nights by a guy named Jeremy,” said Isaac. “He’s really good. If you’re lucky he’ll play randomly during the week. That’s always cool.”

The Asana House is open for business as they continue to expand their fresh and healthy menu from smoothies and juices to asian cuisine and all-day brunch.
