The Montclair Art Museum, located on South Mountain Avenue, is a place for people of all ages with various art interests. The museum hosts events throughout the year for many different groups of people, and there are great things to see throughout the summer! Don’t miss their Closer Look Tour for July, on July 3 from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. to get a better look inside the staple of culture in Montclair.

According to the Montclair Art Museum’s website, montclairartmuseum.com, “Join MAM for [an] informal 30-minute gallery talks that provide an in-depth examination of one to two works of art on view in the galleries. Tours are led by MAM educators and docents. Closer Look Tours coincide with Free First Fridays—MAM offers free admission to all visitors the first Friday of the month during regular gallery hours, 12 to 5 p.m.”

The Closer Look Tour takes place at the Montclair Art Museum, which is located at 3 South Mountain Avenue in Montclair and is open on Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The museum is closed in observance of holidays, such as the Fourth of July, so be sure to check out the website for any closings before you make your summer holiday plans this coming weekend.

Entry to the Montclair Art Museum is $12 for nonmember adults, $10 for seniors over 65 and students with ID, free for members and free for children under 12.

The Montclair Art Museum also has art studio space that can be rented out for parties and other events. In addition, the third floor has a gallery, family learning lab and digital media lab. The lower level also has a children’s arcade gallery and art school arcade gallery where the art made from those who have visited the museum hang on the wall.

The museum brings together an assortment of different art galleries to show the wide range of art across different centuries. With a combination of modern and contemporary Art, eighteenth and nineteenth Century American Art and Native American art, the museum houses pieces by George McNeil, Jack Whitten, Edward Middleton Manigault and Van Dearing Perrine.

The Montclair Art Museum may not be as large as The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, but the art that is displayed in this museum offers just as much insight into art culture. Be sure to take advantage of this staple of culture with the Closer Look Tour in Montclair this summer!
