Fab Faux Travels Across the Universe

The Fab Faux celebrates the Beatles by rocking at the Wellmont Theater on March 15.

The Fab Faux brings new meaning to the Beatles.

Early February marked the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ first American television appearance, and now Montclair will have its own personal opportunity to celebrate the renowned English rock band and their timeless contributions to the world of music. On March 15, the Wellmont Theater will be host to The Fab Faux, a Beatles tribute band founded by Will Lee, which includes Frank Agnello, Rich Pagano, Jack Petruzzelli and Jimmy Vivino.

The Fab Faux’s band name is a play on the common title given to the Beatles, the “Fab Four”, and provokes a sense of independence amidst musical homage. And there are, indeed, many things that set the Fab Faux apart; often times their shows feature later works of the Beatles never performed live by them before, and the group stresses an overall importance of recreating an authentic and resurrected experience on stage.

Will Lee, who is also the bassist for the Late Show with David Letterman, formed his group in 1998, and it has seen since “Strawberry Field’s” of success. They have made an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and in 2008 held a 10th anniversary concert in the Radio City Music Hall – a sold-out hit.

As the Beatles experimented with several genres through the course of their career, the Fab Faux follow suit with a similar notion of evolving themes. Each show is unique and specific to a different Beatles period. From albums Rubber Soul to Abbey Road, The Fab Faux have carefully tailored their individual set-lists to fit the mood and atmosphere of each Beatles’ album. On March 15th, the band will play the entirety of Abbey Road, as well as a mixed set.

Before and after the performance that is sure to an act of extraordinary musical revival, make sure to utilize Montclair’s fantastic food scene! No matter your preference and taste, there is something for everyone. Raymond’s offers a variety of classic American options, Veggie Heaven serves simple but delectable Chinese dishes, and Cuban Pete’s is always a great option if you are craving a spicy and lively environment.

Parking, as always on a Saturday night out in Montclair, can be troublesome. Make sure to arrive early and take advantage of the energetic aura of the town. A good seat at a good concert always makes for good time.
