According to the Montclair Farmers’ Market website, montclairnjusa.org,  the market is host to five “familiar” farmers: Tree-Licious Orchards, Sunden Farms, Vacchiano’s, Matarazzo’s and Farmer John, the organic grower. The market “boasts over a dozen delicious food artisans, such as [the] local bread company, a cheese maker, a seafood fishmonger, a beekeeper with honey (and wax candles), a specialty condiments purveyor, a pesto maker and a pickler.” The market is host to things perfect for any fresh product lover!

Perhaps the biggest thing loved about this market is the “sense of community due to the presence of the farmers, neighbors, chef-prepared food tastings, non-profit info/display tables and musical entertainment.” The market is not just a place for people to buy great produce, but also a perfect opportunity to speak to the farmers and sellers, connect with people in the community and spend the day among family and friends.

There are also many benefits to choosing to buy from local farmers’ markets rather than grocery-produced fruits and vegetables. Most of the produce sold at the farmers’ market is picked within a few days of the sale, making sure the products are fresh and packed full of both flavor and nutrients. Products that are shipped and packed for a shelf life are often full of preservatives and artificial flavoring/sugars; buying locally helps to ensure that your products will be perfect for you and your family.

Buying from farmers’ markets also helps to strengthen the community, making sure that the products come from our local farmers and grocers. This also helps ensure you know exactly what is going into your products – and your body. Take a trip to the Montclair Farmers’ Market this Saturday to see what products the Montclair community has to offer!
