Hampton House and Fisch family celebrate 70 years!
Montclair’s Hampton House, founded by Carl Fisch in 1947, asserts itself proudly at the corner Bloomfield Ave. and Church St. The furniture store’s rounded bold letters burn bright red, inviting any passerby in for a warm experience. It gives customers top-notch furniture without the headache of ordering online. They furnish homes all over the area.
Carl’s son Ron now runs the business with his wife, Joan. The couple runs the business with attention to the principles that have kept Hampton House running for so long: strong quality, unique style and customer service. Hampton House features four floors full of furniture, each with its own aesthetic to fit the consumer’s needs. Customers can browse the website for ideas before visiting the store. The website features a “Get a Quote” section to encourage customers to explore options. In addition, it features styles ranging from “The Suburban Urbanite” to the “Downsizer.”
“Countless times we have heard horror stories of people who purchase online and receive an inferior product. What had made us successful throughout these many years is our attention to details, our personal service and the quality product we sell,” said Fisch on the importance of visiting the store.

Joan Fisch agreed with her husband. She mentioned that for her, the best part of working in the business is getting to meet so many people. Over 70 years furnishing homes through Hampton House has allowed the Fisch family to create one of their own. Fisch feels she really gets to know the families she helps by working closely with them to create a welcoming space.
“Our store is its own little community as customers visit us just to say, ‘Hi,’ introduce us to new babies and share stories,” said Fisch.
