On Thursday, Sept. 17 from 12 – 2 p.m., the Montclair Art Museum will welcome Home School families to partake in their Home School Day. The day will be split into two groups of students aged 4-10 and students above 11 years old. Be sure to take part in this day of culture and meet other Home School families from in and around Montclair.

According to the MAM website, “The Montclair Art Museum invites Home School families for a fun and educational afternoon. The two-hour programs include a gallery tour and studio art project led by MAM educator Emily Kenselaar for students above 11 years old and Peg Kenselaar for students aged 4-10.”

Admission to the Home School Day is priced per family at $18 for nonmembers or $6 for members. The Home School Day takes place at the Montclair Art Museum, which is located at 3 South Mountain Avenue in Montclair and is open on Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The museum is closed in observance of holidays, so be sure to check out the website for any closings before you make your museum outing plans.

Entry to the Montclair Art Museum is $12 for nonmember adults, $10 for seniors over 65 and students with ID, free for members and free for children under 12.

The Montclair Art Museum also has art studio space that can be rented out for parties and other events. In addition, the third floor has a gallery, family learning lab and digital media lab. The lower level also has a children’s arcade gallery and art school arcade gallery where the art made from those who have visited the museum hang on the wall.

The museum brings together an assortment of different art galleries to show the wide range of art across different centuries. With a combination of modern and contemporary Art, eighteenth and nineteenth Century American Art and Native American art, the museum houses pieces by George McNeil, Jack Whitten, Edward Middleton Manigault and Van Dearing Perrine.

The Montclair Art Museum may not be as large as The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, but the art that is displayed in this museum offers just as much insight into art culture. Be sure to take advantage of this staple of culture in Montclair throughout the season with the new programs and exhibits that are always being offered.
