La Madonna at Kasser Theater.
If you’re looking for a special treat this Mother’s Day, take the lucky lady in your life to a showing of La Madonna at Kasser Theater on the campus of Montclair State University. The Baroque Ensemble will be performing La Madonna on Sunday, May 10 at 3 p.m.
La Madonna will be performed by Laura Heimes, soprano; Amelia Roosevelt and Claire Jolivet, baroque violins; Jessica Troy, baroque viola; John Mark Rozendaal, baroque cello and Gabe Shuford, harpsichord.
According to the Peak Performances website, “A baroque celebration of Mother’s Day! Repast Baroque Ensemble, a group of ‘practiced period perfectionists’ whose articulate, spirited playing has won rave reviews, has created a program of works in praise of motherhood. From Biber’s Annunciation sonata to Purcell’s Blessed Virgin’s Expostulation, all the works on the program, played by the finest instrumentalists on period instruments, will honor the mothers among us.”
The show is 85 minutes long with one intermission.
