Montclair Art Museum offers mobile Art Truck.
Looking for a little bit of culture this summer? Look no further than the mobile Montclair Art Museum. According to montclairartmuseum.org, “the MAM Art Truck is a mobile open studio, housed in a retrofitted ice cream truck, that offers free art projects and lessons to MAM’s community.”
The goal of the truck is to raise awareness about the Montclair Art Museum its Yard School of Art in surrounding towns while “feeding creativity in undeserved communities and audiences.” The truck will be featured at upcoming events around town, such as festivals and farmer’s markets as well as “weekday appearances at senior centers and community pools.”
The Montclair Art Museum Art Truck is driven by Dan Fenelon, who graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Fenelon has been known as a graphic designer and fine artist and has had galleries in both New York and New Jersey.
Some upcoming schedule appearances for the truck include:
- Monday, August 11, 3 p.m. at Canterbury at Cedar Grove
- Wednesday, August 13, 10 a.m. at Emeritus at West Orange
- Thursday, August 14, 5–8:30 p.m. at Little Falls Farmer’s Market and Concert Series
- Saturday, August 16 at Montclair Jazz Festival
According to the Montclair Art Museum website, the Yard School of Art “offers programs for adults, children and teens throughout the year” and offers classes in four semesters, including “an eight-week summer program.” The Yard School of Art aims to teach people new skills or help artists tone up their old knowledge, right in their own backyard.
The Montclair Art Museum is located at 3 South Mountain Avenue in Montclair, just off of Bloomfield Avenue. The Montclair Art Museum also encourages the public to follow the Art Truck on social media using the hashtag “#MAMarttruck.” Take advantage of these wonderful artistic opportunities right here in town with the Montclair Art Museum and their art truck!
