Oscars’ fashion inspires prom looks.
Shades of blue and lots of bling were the common theme of the night on the red carpet of the 2014 Oscars. Stars were looking elegant as always in deep blues, light blues, bejeweled gowns and lots of jewelry on the red carpet, marking the huge fashion trends of the moment.
Amy Adams was seen on the Oscars carpet in a strapless navy blue Gucci gown with Tiffany accent jewelry. All of this was inspired by the 50’s; or, as she referred to it, a “vertigo homage.” The best part of Adams’ look this night was her exquisite earrings, which stood out against the strapless dress and the up-do she had chosen in anticipation of bad weather. The American Hustle star stood out in the color, which made everything from her fair skin and blue eyes to her red hair pop on the red carpet.
Jennifer Lawrence channeled her inner “Girl-on-Fire” by rocking a strapless bright red peplum Dior gown with Neil Lane diamond necklace draped down her back. This American Hustle actress had her now-short hair teased up for an elegant, but edgy look. Lawrence always knows how to pull off the tasteful appearance while still keeping her own style, and definitely didn’t fail while on the Oscars carpet.
Gravity star Sandra Bullock went for an astronomic shade for the night, wearing a deep blue strapless gown by Alexander McQueen that created a memorable look. The standout dress was paired with minimal jewelry and a deep-parted side-swept hairstyle, making Bullock look like the ultimate movie star and creating one of her best looks yet.
New star Lupita Nyong’o, supporting actress from 12 Years A Slave, donned a baby blue Prada gown with a lot of accent jewelry. Her gold Fred Leighton headband and bracelets stood out, helping to create the perfect, classy look for the red carpet. Nyong’o even helped design her own dress, and chose the blue shade because it reminded her of her hometown. This newcomer is sure to stick around and someone we should keep our eye on in future Oscars.
